Migrate Flatpak Configs to System Package

Hello,

I would like to try the Kdenlive System Package to check if it has better performance than Flatpak. My configs are here “/home/$USER/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/data”.

Now, I was irritated because in “/home/$USER/.config”, I can find no directory; only the kdenliverc file. No my question is: How can I get the Flatpak configs into the newly installed Kdenlive System Package Version?

Thanks

Which configs?

In the flatpak your /home/$USER/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/config/kdenlive-flatpakrc appears to be what is used for the kdenliverc, so I’d venture this could be copied over as
/home/$USER/.config/kdenliverc

/home/$USER/.local/share/kdenlive/ is the analogue to /home/$USER/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/data/kdenlive/ so you should just need to copy the dir from one location to the other.

I copied everything from /home/yannik/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/data/kdenlive to /home/yannik/.local/share/kdenlive and it didn’t work.

  • The Layout is different (Mixer is on the right, which is the default setting for new installs, which implies that it didn’t change anything)
  • Templates are not there

I checked and it is still the case that the Flatpak install has different configs than the System Package install.

What about your actual kdenliverc, the “flatpak” one? That file is where the UI settings would be stored. You’d need to rename it to be kdenlicerc instead of kdenlive-flatpakrc

What templates are you missing? I am not sure where those would go,

Effects templates would be in ~/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/data/kdenlive/ so should go to ~/.local/share/kdenlive/effect-templates/ same as the other dirs. Anything else I do not know.

Thanks, that was it. It wasn’t clear to me that I have to copy and rename that file. Thanks!
