I’m from KDE translation team for Brazilian Portuguese and we’ve maintained 100% translated for a long time. However, the MIME types that appear in Dolphin, for example, have translation errors.
I’m not sure if this problem is specific to KDE or system-wide, but it has recurred in KDE across several distributions I’ve tested (CachyOS, Fedora, openSUSE, etc.).
I observed the following:
The MIME type descriptions are saved at /usr/share/mime folder at the system level.
There, the original English term appears, along with the translations. For example, for folders and directories, the MIME type is specified in the inode subfolder (in /usr/share/mime) in the directory.xml file.
Within the file, the English term (Folder) appears followed by the translated languages.
This is where the problem arises. I don’t know why, for Brazilian Portuguese, the language code appears as pt-BR (with a hyphen) instead of pt_BR (with an underscore).

If I manually correct this file on my system (from pt-BR to pt_BR), the translation is displayed correctly in Dolphin.
Which program or routine is responsible for generating these MIME type description files? Is this program from KDE or does it run at the system level?
If I understand how the process of generating these MIME type files works, I can report the bug appropriately or even submit a pull request to change pt-BR to pt_BR.
I would appreciate any help.
