Mouse can move in games when it shouldn't be able to (and it isn't visible)

I’m having an issue with some games, basically the mouse is able to move when it isn’t visible so it’ll end up in a different spot when I open the menu (based on how I looked around in game). Linked is an example in Minecraft, but it happens in a lot of other games too. On windows it’s just supposed to be in the middle every time you open the menu.

Here’s the video, it may not be done processing right after I post this but it shows the issue.

I get the exact same issue. Would be nice to know if there is any solution. The same problem seems to be present in gnome but was fixed by updating mutter. Thread on fedora fora, cursor-spawns-in-wrong-positions-in-minecraft-guis/135204. (sorry can’t link websites apparently)

My setup: Fedora kde using flatpak minecraft.

Hi - if there’s a reproducible bug in how the mouse cursor is being handled there, the best way to make sure that the right info is in developers’ hands is with a properly formatted bug report: Get Involved/Issue Reporting - KDE Community Wiki

I don’t immediately see any existing reports for issues that sound like this, although 480582 – Wine 9 Wayland cursor does not hide when holding mouse button on game world to move camera/character seems loosely related to the general topic.

Recently the issue was bothering me again so I did some digging and found this bug report:

On the minecraft bug tracking website, I found that this bug also exists over there, entry nr 263682. The solution SevenHeptaracted proposed does work for me. However it seems that is only a fix for minecraft specifically. I have seen in other places that it is also a problem for most steam games and specifically CS2.

The solution for minecraft was to turn off the Raw Input mouse setting in the games settings.

Hope this helps.
