Mouse Pointer Animation Startup Application

Hi,
For some reason, when i start Firefox or Thunderbird, the animation of the mouse pointer does not show as it does for every other application. Usually a bouncing icon next to the mouse pointer. System details :

Operating System: Fedora Linux 40
KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.4.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2
Kernel Version: 6.9.10-200.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

My other system works no issue for Firefox, so i think this is a bug when i upgraded the system.

I checked :

/home/USER/.local/share/plasma_icons

And the entries for Firefox.desktop and Thunderbird.desktop have “StartupNotify=true”

The issue only occurs for the application launched from the Application Launcher Panel shortcut. When using the application menu etc., the bouncing icon is shown.

I assume it will be a missing config entry - can anyone provide the details where to look ?

Thanks and regards,
Shadmeister.

Hi Shadmeister

I have had discrepancies between the start menu and the panel shortcut too. Check the properties of the panel shortcut. I usually just delete it and drag the icon from a working location instead of trying to find the problem. Lazy I am.

Hope this helps

Hi Vektor,
Apologies for the late reply. I was waiting for another reply to state where the issue was.

I eventually did what you said, deleted the icons and added them back in.

I now get the bouncing icons, and there are other changes.

Once selected the application opens and now the Firefox icon disappears from the application. Same for Thunderbird. Always happened with Dolphin, but not Chrome or LibreOffice.

So, i think there is a bit more to it other than a configuration file change.

Thanks for your reply.
Regards,
Shadmeister.
