Frequently popup dialogs / windows disappear behind other even when they have focus. How to make active, focussed windows to appear over other windows?
(I just spend the better part of last week finding Firefox only to realize that a profile selector hid behind my virtual machine window
click on the desktop and type focus
krunner will show you the settings page where you can adjust the focus stealing level for desktop windows.
focus stealing prevention:
none means any window that shows up will go on top and have focus (gets in your way)
extreme means no focus change will ever happen without your explicit direction (tedious)
i use medium and sometimes a window will be behind another, but you can use overview to find it.
I must be doing something wrong:
\# krunner
org.kde.kcm_keys: Interface is not valid
Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)
yeah you are… what is that from?..never mind it doesn’t matter.
if you simply click on the desktop and start typing, do you not see a krunner window appear either in the center of your screen or at the top edge?
pictured is the settings page you need to navigate to.
if you have krunner but don’t see a section for System Settings then click on the configure button in the corner and make sure that System Settings is one of the checked search items.
