Hello,
I’m using the Kdenlive 25.04.0 standalone version on my Windows 10 Pro (21H1, build 19043.1021) system. My PC has an Intel Core i5-3600 CPU and no dedicated GPU.
Since installing this version, I’ve encountered multiple issues:
1. Video & Audio Separation on Import
Unlike other editors like Shotcut where audio and video stay on the same track, Kdenlive separates them by default. When I import multiple videos, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage the timeline because every video clip creates a separate audio and video track.
Is there a way to prevent this behavior or group video and audio tracks together like in Shotcut?
This would greatly improve timeline organization and usability.
I dragged the volume all the way down on the audio track, but I could still hear the sound during playback.
I did not use the mute option from the left-side track panel — I simply dragged the clip’s volume envelope down to the lowest.
Why does this not completely mute the audio? Is it a bug or expected behavior?
I understand that deleting or separating the audio would remove the sound, but I’m more interested in understanding why lowering the volume to zero doesn’t actually mute it.
3. Export Error
When I tried to export a basic edited video, I received an error message and the export failed. Restarting Kdenlive didn’t help. I’ve not made any advanced changes to the export settings.
How can I fix this export issue?
Also, could this be related to a pop-up window I see when opening Kdenlive or importing files? I’m not sure what it is, but I suspect it might be linked.
Thanks in advance for any help. I’d appreciate any guidance or solutions. I’m happy to provide logs or more details if needed.
What kind of stupidity is this? I can not upload more than one image, and I can not use a service like ImgBB, either. By showing the problem, how can I explain properly what I am facing? I hope the admins will take the necessary steps.
Wow, bro wow!! Awesome awesome!! Your response was really very, very useful. All in one response. Yes, I’ll do what you said. But I have some extra questions for you, as you seem very knowledgeable.
Bro, what do these 2 options mean, and what does this blue bar do?
Brother, I am looking for an all-in-one video editor. But it seems like each editor is lacking something for my needs.
Capcut
I have tried CapCut as it is very easy to use. But I can not use Musk to blur a part of the video, as it is a pro feature. Also, the effects and transition load very slowly in it.
Filmora
Filmora is also easy to use, but I can not use the Bangla font in it. Also, some of the videos I import into it show blank. But those videos are just fine and work fine in other video editors.
Openshot
Openshot was fine and lightweight, weight also easy to use, but I can not use blur on a part of the video. I can use Mosak but not blur. It also provides elements, and that’s a good thing.
Shotcut
I like Shotcut as it is open-source, free, and I can use it on Linux too, but “blur” does not work properly on it. Chroma key and blur aren’t as good as Filmora.
VSDC
The UI is very complex also very hard to use.
VideoPad
Not free to use. I can use it for free for a limited time.
So bro, I am looking for an all-in-one solution. Which video editor will be best for me? I have tried Olive Video Editor too, but it is node-based and I don’t like it as it is very complex.
I have enough disk space and multiple disks. The problem is not related to the disk because as soon as I click render, I get that error.
And you are right, all forum does the same. They do not allow inserting more than one image for new users, but maybe they let users use a third-party service. I am not sure, but maybe I was able to add multiple images on the Zorin OS forum.
That volume slider isn’t meant for muting audio. It’s just the playback volume for you, but the audio itself isn’t muted. Your screenshot shows that the green/yellow bars are still there, indicating that there’s still audible audio.
To mute the audio: Add a Volume effect and lower the gain to mute the audio. You’ll then see the colourful bars disappear.
Also: it’s possible to add video-only into the Timeline (without its audio).
No need to report it since it’s expected behaviour.
I’d guess you’re thinking of the mute effect for this one. But you’re correct that the track volume controls only give +/- ~24dB of range, which is a long way from ‘muting’ most Normal Volume audio.
I removed that section from my reply after checking on Kdenlive… It wasn’t an effect per se, but a right-click menu option. It migth’ve been a feature years ago, but I just checked, and it’s not an option.
