On my Android 14 phone I have both the built-in SMS app, which sends/receives as my carrier’s phone number and the Google Voice app, which has it’s own phone number. I predominately use Google Voice and only use my carrier phone number if absolutely necessary. I have Google Voice setup as the default telephony app, so when I click phone number links it uses my Google Voice number.
KDE Connect syncs the carrier SMS messages but it doesn’t sync the Google Voice SMS messages. Do I need to change a setting in Android or in KDE Connect to get it to sync both (or, if it can’t do both, preferably just Google Voice).
I have a feeling you can’t, as GV can’t be set as the default SMS app – I am not sure it even uses SMS directly from the phone itself, tbh, which might be why.
Using GV it isn’t the same as moving from or using, say, Samsung’s built-in SMS app to using Google Messages or another SMS app. These are all accessing the same SMS system, and I think GV is using its own thing, or sending the messages as SMS from the cloud as opposed to from the phone.
Someone would need to create a plugin that can access GV messages. Which would be a great idea, of course, assuming Google allows it.
