I have lots of folders with documents, and watching the previews being rendered one-by-one, only using one core on my system with many threads, and with an SSD, seems a bit antiquated.
Is there some setting I can set to let dolphin use 4 or 8 threads to render previews in folders faster?

Not a the moment, but that would be feasible.
There has been some work towards achieving this that didn’t pan out unfortunately.
Feel free to open a feature request, it may already exist.
