I love kdenlive but the only problem I’m facing is the fact that we can’t make custom effects but only presets . I use templates but sometimes I have to resize them etc. I have to use lightworks (as it is available on Linux too and has custom effects not presets) .
I don’t know if I understand your question correctly. But you can of course make custom effects with Kdenlive:

Lightworks is certainly very good, but the free version has many limitations that Kdenlive does not have.
As of right now, unless you’re willing to dig deep into C++ you cannot make custom effects. Or at least I don’t know how if you can otherwise. However- there are plans (Check the roadmap on the kdenlive website) to integrate kdenlive with natron or blender as well as more powerful effects such as built in compositing. It’s planned, so it’s going to happen.
