New kdenlive-24.12.3-x86_64.AppImage never starts

Application never starts>

v1p3r@v1p3r-desktop:~/Scaricati$ ./kdenlive-24.12.3-x86_64.AppImage

no problem with appimages before. For example the 24.12.0

v1p3r@v1p3r-desktop:~/Scaricati$ ./kdenlive-24.12.0-x86_64.AppImage

(AppImageLauncher:8369): GLib-CRITICAL **: 11:09:30.169: g_file_test: assertion ‘filename != NULL’ failed

I have the same issue on Manjaro. Appimage for 24.12.2 runs fine. 24.12.3 gives me “execv error: No such file or directory” on the command line.

Works as normal for me on both Debian Bookworm and Trixie.

Without knowing exactly what “No such file” it’s failing to find for you, it’s hard to say much more about what the actual problem you’re seeing is, other than betting the answer to that problem most likely is:

“It’s (already well past) time to update your distro again”…

I’m running up to date Manjaro. Updates last checked 5 hours ago. So no chance of being out of date system.

Instead of being condescending you could instead show how I can get more info out of an appimage.

Federico was able to provide more info than me. And he has the same error there. I don’t get that critical error. I just get the execv error.

Well that would be the first time ever for “appimage doesn’t start on my system” then…

So you tell us almost nothing about the system it didn’t work for you on, then get upset when an equally generic (and never before wrong) answer doesn’t solve it for you?

I gave you information you can use, it’s not broken for everyone - but we likewise don’t know what Federico is running, so it may or may not just be a problem with “5 hour old Manjaro”.

If you can’t tell us more than that, there is no cheat sheet at the back of the book we’re not telling you about, and insults for thanks isn’t motivating me to offer you more guesses that might also not instantly solve it.

We’ll just have to wait until someone with a broken system explores it enough that they can tell us what makes it broken.

I had similar issues on Kali-Linux that the AppImage doesn’t start anymore.

It seems some background files are missing. I would try to update/upgrade your Linux and than try to start the AppImage again.

Could you please try to run the AppImage like this:

QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb ./kdenlive-24.12.3-x86_64.AppImage

Does Kdenlive start with QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb?

Unfortunately it doesn’t! I get the same error still. Screenshot attached.

The system is already up-to-date.

tested with the QT preface

QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb ./kdenlive-24.12.3-x86_64.AppImage

and upgraded the distro:

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
Release: 22.04
Codename: jammy

no luck
