Newbie Question how to sync shares in an investment depot

Hi all,

I am fed up with windows and proprietary software. As I use Linux since decades i switched to it as my daily driver years ago. Only my finance management was still residing on windows as there were applications like lexware Finanzmanager which are just working .
Now I want to use KmyMoney. I successfully imported my Girokonto (bankaccount) and i am working into it step by step.

Now I want to add my shares account. it is recognized by aqbanking and i created a local account for it and mapped it successfully to my aqbanking account. But my problem is i cannot download anything. Now shares (ok, somewhere i read i have to create them initially). But also no transactions like buy or sell get imported. What is the usual way to handle them correctly ?

Welcome, FelixLE. Many of us have migrated away from The Evil Empire for the same reasons. I too kept a windows virtual machine only to run quicken and turbotax. I finally dropped quicken and threw myself into KmyMoney. Personally, I did not tackle AQBanking. (That is something I still want to do – when time permits!) I don’t have that many trades and divvy distributions so that I can enter those data manually.
In the case of credit card purchases (I have a wife and she uses the card willy-nilly), I find it easier to export from Chase bank the charges for the month and them import them. It works well. Just my two cents worth. A

p.s. Just this year, after 20+ years of filing with Turbotax, I have decided to try FreeTaxUSA.com. Now I can delete the virtual machine and kick all windows software ot the curb.
