Not possible to create shortcuts to simulate keyboard input in plasma 6?

In Plasma 5, it was possible to make keyboard shortcuts in khotkeys that would send characters to the active application as if they came from the keyboard (like xdotool or ydotool).

When I upgraded to Plasma 6, those shortcuts stopped working. Is this not possible in Plasma 6?

as i understand it, custom shortcuts did not make it into plasma 6

at least not yet.

input remapper should be in the applications menu (or app store)

perhaps the native feature will be re-introduced in a later update.
