I meant new version of plasma could show actual number of active instances.

this would be value added if when cycling thru instances the badge number would be tied to the instance that currently has focus.

otherwise the + and number are basically the same thing to me.

For what it’s worth, there is an existing request for this feature in the KDE Bugtracking System: 499409 – Add option to show the number of multiple windows, instead of just a "+"

If you’d like, you can add yourself to the CC list in Bugzilla to get email notifications whenever new comments are added, or the status is changed. Making sure the “Add me to CC list” option is checked, then choosing “Save Changes”, will add you.
