Okular(24.12.2) -- annotation edit, can't have properties of highlighted text

Hello,
I’ve annoted a pdf text file, with some hightlighting colours.
According to Annotations
the procedure would be " Just right-click on the highlighted text and select the Properties menu item."

I’m trying, but to no avail, see attached img example.

Thanks

Never worked for me. If I want okular to search for a word, I need the searchbar. But it doesn’t highlight the results, just “next” and “previous”. If I need this type of functionality, I run it in another app.

Onlyoffice ( no rightclick context though) for example:

If I want okular to search for a word

No.
I want to change the highlighting colour and just wanted to show, that when I right-click on an already highlighted text, here a single word, I do not have a properties menu; I have 4 choices, indeed one being search.

O, okay. Yeah, I don’t have it in the context either. The only way to do it is ( at least, that’s the way I did it) is to add the annotation settings ( parametres d’annotation) on the toolbar ( or however you want to access it). Still is different from that info page though.

It’s pretty useless really. Except for the transparency all it does can be achieved with the annotation tools themselves. You can’t undo or change once an annotation is made. I have no idea how to get the contect menu as described on the info page or that it even exists.

I found a way but I find it a very clumsy one if this is the default.

Anywho. I made an ellipse annotation.

If I switch to the annotation tab in the sidebar and rightclick the annotation, that specific window pops up. You can then change the annotation.

Works for every annotation. But yeah, an option in the rightclick would be veeeeeery helpfull because if you make a bunch of annotations, good luck finding the right one since it’s not accentuated. Maybe that context entry is in newer versions of okular, I dunno.

Good thing you can fiddle a bit with those bottom buttons when scrolling through a pdf.

it worked, but as you says it’s very, very, very clumpsy.
Especially, if you have multiple hightlighted portion on a page, see screenshot, you need to try all of them 1-by-1 until you find the right one.

There used to be another process, and the help suggest so (see docs okular annotations), but can’t make it work.
Do you have properties when you select the item and righ-click? I don’t see my very 1st post.

Not in the right click on the pdf itself, no. Only in the sidebar.
Scrolling on the pdf does change the sidebar pages. But no way of telling what annotation is what exactly. There’s no highlight on the pdf when you click the annotation.

On a sidenote. Okular is one of those few apps in 5-ish that’s a bit…unfinished imho. At times it doesn’t show the file name ( in the active window widget) and it misses translations here and there. In the global menu for example, three entries have no menu text whatsoever. No biggie really, I do everything with a toolbar. Just sayin’. In either case, dunno if it’s better in 6-ish, but Dutch has always had a few quirks on kde overall.

Ought to be filed as bug in https://bugs.kde.org/
But don’t seems a waste of time in view of the back log. (Okukar annotation)

Thx anyway
