I hope I’m posting this to the right section, I’m new.
On Linux Ubuntu, when I open a pdf with an index, chapters are exploded by default.
When the book is very long it’s painful to go through it by scrolling. I wish there could be an option to collapse all the chapters in a short list when you want to move fast. On Windows it seems that by default chapters are not expanded. Do you think this is a good addition?

if you right click in the side bar and choose collapse all then everything is collapsed.
are you asking if this can be the default whenever you open a document, instead of expand all?
i don’t think that would be a good default but, as an option in configure, it might be a good feature request for the Configure Okular > General tab, either under Appearance or Program features
