Hi all. I wanted to read a PDF book in Okular and I noticed that some internal hyperlinks (e.g., ToC) weren’t working, such as all of those pointing towards the contents in the main section of the book (the links to the front matter and the back matter).
However, the weird thing is everything works fine when I opened it in Firefox, so I am unsure as to what is going on.
I tried running QPDF on it in the hopes that it might do something, but that was not the case.
I am using Okular 25.12.2-1 and Poppler 26.01.0-1 on Arch (with Plasma).
Thank you for your help.
hi, welcome.
while trying to reproduce this on an older version of okular, i did encounter a momentary state where ToC links did not appear to be working in one of the random pdfs i have on my desktop.
but this cleared up when i started changing view modes like fit to page or autofit, and then i was not able to reproduce it, and the ToC links started to behave normally.
try changing your view of the pdf and see if the links start working again.
If Okular can’t use the links immediately after starting up, but it starts working again after Okular’s state is “jiggled” a bit… that really sounds like something that would need a bug report.
Actually I might have found one, but it looks like it never got investigated very closely… https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398113
If that’s what this is, then it seems there’s been some weird little bug lurking around for quite a long time…
if it’s reproducible, then it’s def worthy of a bug report or chiming in on the one you cited.. but that one seems to be more related to footnote notation within a PDF rather than ToC links (maybe they are the same thing under the hood).
i’ve tried a couple more pdf documents and still could not reproduce this issue, but i swear there was a point where clicking on the ToC did nothing… and then it started working again.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I tried this and it unfortunately did nothing at all.
the links to the front matter and the back matter
It looks like I forgot to complete this sentence, but I wanted to say that the links to the front and back matter work fine, even in the ToC.
