Okular freezes on save

Since a few weeks ago, Okular has this annoying bug where, when I try to save the annotations I’ve made, it throws up the following dialog. The dialog then sticks around for minutes waiting for the process to be done, during which time the application is completely unresponsive.

I have not been able to reliably reproduce the bug. It doesn’t happen every time I save, but begins to appear when I have used the program for a while. Once it appears, however, it keeps occurring until I reboot.

Following the instructions on Troubleshooting - KDE Community Wiki , I ran journalctl --follow, and it threw the following message, which I don’t know how to interpret:

Failed to inhibit suspend for "org.kde.okular" with reason "Copying": "The name is not activatable"

OS: Fedora 44

Okular version: 26.04.03. I’ve tried with both the flatpack version and the one in the Fedora repo, and they both have the same issue.

What’s your version of the poppler library?

My version of poppler is 26.01.0

Are there any chance you can get a backtrace of the stalled process?

Are the document involved gigantically large?

Are you having a space constrained /tmp or otherwise constrained system?
