Okular printing size problem

Hi, I am having a problem printing since a few days.

When I print PDFs, Okular always prints to what apparently seems a smaller area (maybe A5) then the format configured (A4).

The symptoms look very similar to this old thread on openSUSE forums.
No amount of fiddling with printer settings and/or CUPS fixes the problem.

Printing with lpr from the command line (like suggested in the aforementioned thread) prints correctly.

Any hints, or anybody else seeing the problem?

I am on openSUSE Tumbleweed fully up-to-date, with KDE Plasma as DE.

Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20250130
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.10.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
Kernel Version: 6.13.0-1-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Thank you in advance!
Cris

Hi - just to check, have you set the “Scale mode” under the Print dialog’s PDF Options tab to “None; print original size”?

(Thinking of this based on the bug report comment linked here: 498929 – Printing dimensions are inaccurate)

Hi @johnandmegh , thank you for your reply.

Last time I had the problem I made a couple of trials, but honestly I do not remember if I tried with the “print original size” setting.

But the point is that it should not make any difference. Well, it obviously DOES make a difference, but not to the extent I am seeing here.
I have always used the “Fit to printable area” setting and the results were correct for me. And I have not recently changed my printer or my printer driver.

As I said in the original post, the difference in size is huge: it seems it is printing to an A5 page instead of A4. That cannot be justified by the need to account for the unprintable areas.
And printing with lpr and the option “-o fit-to-page” does not show the wrong behavior.
