Opening links in Firefox duplicates the Firefox window across desktops

Basically subj. I have 4 desktops, on desktop #1 a Firefox window is opened. I switch to desktop #2, open foot (or any other terminal), type a link and open it. The same window appears on desktop #2. Now I have two identical windows on desktop #1 and #2. Moving a window from desktop #1 to desktop #2 and then back to desktop #1 removes the duplicate. I’m using Wayland and KDE 6.3 on Arch Linux. Anyone having the same issue?

Hi! Just to check, does the same thing happen with any other applications, like perhaps Chromium, Kate, etc.?

Are the contents of the two windows synced? In other words, does scrolling or changing tabs get in the window on desktop #2 also happen to the window on desktop #1?

  1. This is related to “Settings → Window Management ->Bring window to current Virtual Desktop”.
  2. It does not happen with Telegram or Discord.
  3. Yep, exactly the same.

It just hit me that you probably mean virtual desktops, not physical monitors, right?

Do you have any window rules set for Firefox, perhaps? When the issue is happening, does the Firefox window have the “All Desktops” option checked if you right-click on the title bar and open the “Desktops” menu?

Yep, VD. Nope, no additional rules. Nope, it does not have All Desktops.

This will probably either need someone more knowledgeable than me, or will end up as a bug report - but for information either way, what setting do you have for Virtual Desktop behavior, under System Settings > Window Management > Window Behavior > Advanced?

The one above ^^^
