It will if someone has the time, ability and interest to get in and figure out how to implement it.
I don’t think that’s blind belief on my part, either - there have been 25 feature requests and 29 bugs for Plasma and Frameworks that were created in 2017 or before, and were fixed in 6.x. This past Friday, a bug that had been reported in 2013 had a fix merged to land in the upcoming Frameworks 6.13.
It will just require either the right person, or a company willing to sponsor the work
