I’m trying to fix a widget I have on my panel, which shows the weather. It depends on the above, as they all seem to, which isn’t installed.
I have the “Weather” app installed from Discover, which this is supposed to pull it’s data from.
The KDE Store page says I need to
“sudo apt install plasma-widgets-addons”
But I have dnf on Fedora and it doesn’t seem to be available.
The widget was working until recently. I can’t find one that will work. The default “Weather” app works ok, but it is not a widget that sits on a panel.
Any guidance please?
Hi - because there are so many applications, widgets and the like simply named “Weather” out there, can you share a link to the specific “Weather” application that you installed and are having trouble with?
(From the Discover page where you installed it, you should be able to click “Share” at the top, click “Generate QR Code”, and get the text link below the code)

This is great, as it shows the problem I think. I have this installed via discover:
appstream://org.kde.kweather
Which works as a standalone program, but doesn’t match what the widget I’m trying to fix is looking for. I can’t find the one that the widget is looking for in discover.
The widget is this, not installed via discover:
Which has in the description: " Uses the default KDE weather widget’s data sources. Needs (sudo apt install plasma-widgets-addons) if you don’t already have the default KDE weather widget installed."
I’ve tried other widgets which have the same issue. Daily forecast, simple weather. I think they’re all expecting me to be able to add plasma-widgets-addons which I haven’t managed.
Chaac Weather seems to be working now which it wasn’t a couple of days ago, so I have a solution. Although it would be nice to know what’s happening and get the old widget back working.
Thank you for your help.
Hmm, might be worth reaching out to the widget author then, to make sure it was correctly ported to Plasma 6. That one, and the other two you mentioned, appear to be the three least-recently updated apps in the “Plasma 6 Weather” category, so others that are more recently-updated (like Chaac Weather that you found) might have better luck in the meantime.
Thank you, I agree that with what you showed me it looks like the widget needs updating; due to some change in the plasma program it/they are pulling from.
I’ve tried to advise the mod author, but cannot register for store.kde.org, due to only having protonmail and googlemail email accounts. Domains which are blocked due to spam.
Thank you for your help, I know what is happening now and I have a solution.
