Adore KDE Plasma… have one thing from my windows 10 days I miss:
When snapping a window to the side of the screen the remaining windows go in overview so you can select which program gets the other half of the screen.
Is there an extension or setting that allows that behavior when snapping or activating overview in plasma?
I have searched but I don’t think I have the correct terminology to get a good query going
hi, welcome.
the tiling options in the default plasma are limited to quick tile using meta+arrow keys and the custom tile you set up using meta+t and then drag windows into the custom tiles using meta+shift
if you want something more automated or interactive you may be able add a 3rd party kwin script in settings > window management that does what you want (or write your own script) when using either of these tiling methods .
under the “get new” button, you can try searching for tiling options.
Thank you for the help!
Turns out the windows feature is called snap assist; there was an extension that did that for plasma 5 but doesn’t work in plasma 6. Unfortunately I know nothing about programming or writing scripts so that is beyond me…. bummer. It was a nice quality of life thing from windows, small price to pay for not dealing with microsoft ever again:)
