Overwrite Mode: Dragging vs. Overwrite Clip Zone in Timeline

When I use “Overwrite Clip Zone in Timeline” - even in Overwrite Mode - to overwrite (replace) a colour clip with a JPG clip, it pushes everything right like it does in Insert Mode. However when I drag (in Overwrite Mode), it works.

I’ve tried creating a zone, and selecting the clip I want to replace with the overwrite.

I was going to report this as a bug, but thought I’d throw it out there for discussion.

Kdenlive 26.03.70 Build 12025.

Windows 10 Home.

This is one of the daily builds, right?

Does this also happen with the stable Standalone version 25.12.2 for Windows?

I dunno. I’m using this build ATM. But I am 99.9% sure the results would be the same. Do you have Windows 10 (or 11) installed? What happens when you Overwrite Clip Zone Time (B)? Does it not insert across all tracks?

Hi Bernd

I’ve just uninstalled 26.03.70 and installed 25.12.2 and I’ll test it, as you kindly suggested.

Best regards

I am in 25.12.2. I have changed to Overwrite Mode.

The playhead is on V1 at 00:00:00 and a 5 second .jpg is in the Clip Monitor.

Failure

Using Overwrite Clip Zone in Timeline acts like an insert, ie everything moves to the right not just whats on V1.

Success

Using the mouse to drag on to timeline overwrites on V1 and nothing moves.
