So, it seems that without installing packagekit-qt6, I can’t install new krunner plugins, but when I open Discover (which I use to manage flatpaks), I get a warning that I should uninstall packagekit-qt6.
My question is: should I have packagekit-qt6 installed or not? If it isn’t safe to have on my system, how am I supposed to install new krunner plugins?
It is fine, just don’t use it to update the system.
The message is there on Arch simply because the distro maintainers don’t want you to use an update method that hides the output and messages. They want you to be certain of what changes are being made and if an update has the potential to break things on your system, and updating through app stores doesn’t satisfy that.
Makes sense. It does worry me a bit because when I have it installed, Discover defaults to the EndeavourOS / Arch repos. I changed the default back to flathub, but my fear is that I’ll run an update, intending to update my flatpaks, and it’ll run a system update. I wish there was a way to disable my OS repos as a source altogether for peace of mind.
