I am running Skrooge on Linux Mint. After a recent update I am being prompted for a password to the .skg file even thought it was not previously password protected. I am no longer able to use Skrooge.
I tried downgrading to 2.33 then to 2.27 but I am still being prompted. No longer able to use my data.
Is there a way to recover from this? - update. I used Timeshift to go back to the 12th and now I am again able to access my data with no password prompt.
As far as I know I would be prompted for a password even if I had Skrooge set to auto open the last database.
You can have this kind of error when the skrooge is not able to open the file.
Could you check that the file size seems to be correct ?
Could you try to restore the previous save by removing the .old extension to the backup file ?
I had gotten it to work by installing the prior version. Now just a few days ago Linux updated again and now the same problem is happening. I know that 2.27 works on my system. How do I get that version? The Software Manager no longer seems to be able to install 2.27. I get a bunch of 404 not found errors. That was how I corrected the problem last time.
I was not as fortunate as the last time this happened. 2.27 opens but it won’t accept my password. I am getting some AI help and purged the install and re-installed 2.27 but it still won’t open my file. I believe that my last working version was 2.31 or 2.32. Do you know if the encryption is different in those versions? and do you know if there are any binaries available?
If I install 2.33 with Software Manager I just get the flash of the Duck and then that’s it. It won’t open.
