Hi all,
I am often in the situation that I need to share my screen (e.g., for sharing presentations, etc.) and I want to be absolutely sure that KDEConnect does not interrupt me.
As an example, last time, I had some video playback being paused due to an incoming call on my Android phone, while my Android phone was muted. At the moment, I had no idea that the playback was paused because of an incoming call (possibly because of fullscreen playback or a lack of a desktop notification?).
In these cases, I would like to completely quit KDE Connect on my Desktop (e.g., with an option in the context menu of the system tray icon), or temporarily stop its service for some fixed time period.
Unfortunately, I could not find any such option. Am I missing anything or is this just not a covered use case?
Thanks for any tips!
Hi, I have not tried this myself, so take it as a pointer only. The pause on your video is probably the “Pause media during calls” feature of KDE Connect. The KDE Connect user documentation says it can be set to react only when you pick up the call instead of when the phone starts to ring, and you can choose whether it pauses the players and/or mutes the system sound.
My guess (not verified) is that you can also switch that feature off for the paired phone in the KDE Connect settings, which would stop the interruption completely. I could not find a documented option to quit KDE Connect for a fixed time from the tray icon, so that part may simply not exist.
You can temporarily stop the background service using systemd:
systemctl --user stop plasma-kdeconnect.service
(or killall kdeconnectd if it is not managed by systemd).
To restart it after your presentation:
systemctl --user start plasma-kdeconnect.service
Alternatively, if you only want to prevent incoming calls from interrupting and pausing playback, open KDE Connect Settings, select your device, and disable the “Pause media during calls” plugin.

@Rei_Kurosawa Yes, I guess there is no such option… I would like to avoid permanently disabling features that are otherwise useful and that are only annoying in screen-share scenarios. Hence, temporarily disabling KDE Connect altogether would be great, imo.
@chineduokafor On my system (Kubuntu 26.04) there is no such service:
$ systemctl --user stop plasma-kdeconnect.service
Failed to stop plasma-kdeconnect.service: Unit plasma-kdeconnect.service not loaded.
