PDF size is too big in Skanpage

Hi everyone.

I am trying Skanpage for scanning and archiving company documents with Skanpage but there are two problems:

1- I cannot set the scan resolution to 150 DPI, there are only 100, 200, 300 and 600 options. (It shouldn’t be scanner specific as this scanner could scan 150 DPI with Windows. But maybe could it be a driver limitation? If so, how to bypass it?)

2- I know that Skanpage applies some refinement like removing noise, fixing the paper tilt etc… But even this considered, scanned page size is still too big. When compared to Paperwork (200 DPI) on the same system, it is double the size (only that Paperwork lacks those refinements which I believe shouldn’t double the file size). When compared to Nitro PDF on Windows (150 DPI), it produces more than 3x larger files and without a great deal of quality difference.

So how can I optimize the outputs?

Since I cannot edit, I will add a reply:
I tried naps2 and scanned 8 pages exactly the way I scanned with Skanpage, all settings are the same and they are both 200 DPI and I configured the same refinements. Naps2 saved 1.7Mb and Skanpage saved 2.3Mb It doesn’t seem to be a big difference but I will be scanning regularly and it will then mean great deal.

By the way lack of 150 DPI seems to be a driver limitation. With naps2, I can see many arbitrary DPI options including 150, but when I select my scanner, they disappear and only the options I see in Skanpage remain. How can I overcome this?

in naps you can choose between the SANE driver and ESCL… try that one (setting is under profile).
