Is there a way to stop using the shrink effect all together when entering Edit mode?
I hate it and I see no benefit coming from it.
Please add a way to switch it off.

What shrink effect?
When you enter Edit mode, the desktop shrinks to make way for something which could have been placed on the desktop as well. I hate that and hope there is,or there will be, a switch to switch it off.
There is no accounting for taste, of course. But do you have any objective reason for why it should be changed?
Remember that KDE is not a supplier, so demanding change, any change, doesn’t really apply here and will probably result in no action being taken, especially when the demand is based on such a flimsy and subjective premise as that one person “hates” something.
There are several things you can do though. You can file a bug on our bugtracker and pick wishlist from the Severity drop down. Or even better: KDE is a porous and welcoming community, join us and help affect the change you want.
