In Plasma 6.6, Spectacle can read texts from screenshots; we trial-run our very own on-screen keyboard for touchscreens; and we have a new first-time wizard that let’s users configure their passwords, timezones, keyboard and networks, on preinstalled systems; among many, many more things.
Congratulations to the devs.
I ran into some issues in the beta, but that’s what betas are for. And those got fixed. The release? Nothing. Not a single issue. Just the new features.
Of course there was the transition from 5 to 6 and esp. 6.0 and 6.1 understandingly carried some inevitable burden introducing changes that needed ironing out. But now 6.6.0 is the smoothest x.y.0 update I can remember in recent years here. ![]()
And again, my Cherry Keyboard in Wayland is reset to US after login…
As a Greenhorn I ran into this issue in the beginning of 6.5, too - so I switched to X11. One day Wayland worked again with my keyboard.
I don’t know what happened here but all my efforts to switch back to German layout was in vain so far…
Any ideas?
I finally had a minute to upgrade today. So great! (knew it would be).
When / where will I be able to buy a laptop with KDE Linux pre-installed??
Favorite ecosystem.
Stay tuned on that!
I think this is the real question…
