Plasma can't remember the size of plasmanotes

Months ago (I can’t remember how many), Plasma can’t remember the size of the plasmoid notes (plasmoid that is base part of Plasma).

Throughout several plasma 6 updates, it is never fixed. It happens both in X11 and Wayland.

I tried to delete my 3 notes and deleted the files of .local/share/plasma_notes/ and made again 3 notes. It did not work.

My kinfo:

As example, I show some screenshots (with personal data of the notes cleared).
The first screenshot is from April, 1st before go to bed and and turn off the computer.

The next screenshot is from April, 1st after turning on the computer in the morning.

The next screenshot is from April, 2nd after turning on the computer in the morning.

If I don’t resize the notes is the final estate forever.

@Krovikan:

Please note that – <KNotes>

Sorry, I don’t know that. I thought it belonged to the Plasma Core. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

@Franken14679 Your link to a Knotes is a KDE application. I don’t have this.

My only plasmoid installed out of Plasma Core is Thermal Monitor.

The plasmoid Notas adhesivas (Sticker notes, I guess) is from Plasma Core. Those are the notes you can saw in the OP post.

@Krovikan:

Oh dear, yes, you did mention that you’re meaning the Plasmoid – mea culpa.

The Plasmoid you’re referring to has it’s source code here – <kdeplasma-addons/applets/notes>
And, there’s a very recent repair which was triggered by this Bug Report – <Add a pin button>

It seems applets/notes/package/contents/ui/main.qml · master · Plasma / Plasma Add-ons · GitLab does not save the note size to Plasmoid.configuration.

You are saying that applets/notes: add button to keep panel popup pinned open (7965d577) · Commits · Plasma / Plasma Add-ons · GitLab don’t work for me because my problem is save the note size (months ago, Plasma save the note size and position in the screen) and the link is for other issue (keep open, I think) ?

I think I was wrong, I think the plasmoid size is supposed to be saved somewhere already, no idea where.
At it worked previously.
The proposed patch might work.

I can’t did the changes proposed by 2 reasons:

  1. The code don’t say anything about sizes.
  2. I don’t know the absolute path where is the 2 files to edit.

So I tried to add more plasmoids of the Plasma Core (not externals) to see if have the same issues.

Friday, 4th I added 1 Previsión Metereológica (Weather Forecast, I guess) and resized and moved. I added 1 Reloj Analógico (Analog Clock, I guess) and resized and moved. I resized also the notes and move a bit. As is (deleted personal data of notes):

2h after, I turned off the computer. In the morning of Saturday, 5th I turned on the computer and is possible to see some changes (in the screenshot below).

  1. The plasmoid Weather Forecast maintains the size and the position but forgets the place for the forecast. And, Plasma itself added a second plasmoid Weather Forecast (is the red square I have drawn in the left bottom of the screen).
  2. The notes don’t remember the sizes.
  3. The Analog Clock is ok.

13h after, I turned off the computer (without do any change to the plasmoids). In the morning of Sunday, 6th I turned on the computer and is possible to see one change (in the screenshot below).

  1. The notes changed again.
  2. The Analog Clock is still ok.
  3. I continue having the forecast without place and the other that added Plasma by itself.

Regards

After 4 days of watching the behavior of the plasmoids Analog Clock and Weather Forecast (removing first the 2nd Weather Forecast from task bar and reconfiguring the plasmoid), I saw that the behavior is good.

After, I try to resize and move Analog Clock and Weather Forecast, to see the behavior again.

With this watching, I am pretty sure that the Issue is only with the plasmoid for which I opened this thread, Notas adhesivas (the plasmoid at the end of the arrow in the next screenshot).

Hi - it sounds like you’re experiencing the same issue that was described in this open bug report: 495306 – An active sticky note resizes most reboots
