Plasma displays black screen after upgrading to Frameworks 6.4

Hi there,

I just tried to upgrade to Frameworks 6.4 from the Arch repos, and after rebooting, all I get is a black screen with a mouse cursor. I can use a keyboard shortcut to open the System Monitor app, but no other keyboard shortcuts work, and the System Monitor app is waaaay off on my theme (bright white instead of dark, except for mouseovers, which go back to the dark theme temporarily). I’ve reverted back to a snapshot for now, but does anyone know of a fix for this? I’d be happy to provide logs if necessary.

It seems you theme might have become incompatible with Frameworks 6.4, try switching back to breeze and check if it changes something.

Nope, I tried that and changing the SDDM back to default, no change in behavior.

Had the same problem - what worked for me was downgrading kio to 6.3.

On my end I had this problem when trying to launch plasmashell:

Not sure if related but saw some internet threads around with some people downgrading multiple kio related packages, I just needed kio and nothing else.

That’s an unfortunate issue, they updated kde frameworks version but it seems they didn’t update kio-widgets package.

Distro (here Endeavour) specific issue.
