Hey! I’ve been using KDE for about a year now (how time flies…) and so far it’s been a breeze. I don’t know how you do it but you seem to be entirely unable to deliver bad experiences. So, thank you!
One thing has been bugging me though. I use a 2-in1 laptop (a ThinkPad Yoga 460, if that matters) and the virtual keyboard pops up whenever I touch a text box even when the laptop is not folded. Which is a bit annoying because I got into the habit of clicking on stuff on the screen sometimes in “laptop mode”. As a workaround, I now have the virtual keyboard icon pinned to the system tray so that I can disable it when I use the “laptop mode” (folded like a laptop) and enable it when the device is folded. That’s a bit too much friction to use efficiently though… (Btw, when the device is folded, the system goes into touch mode as expected)
Since you’ve added “Show keyboard” options in Virtual Keyboard settings in KDE 6.7, I wonder if it would be possible to add a “With touch and tablet, when no keyboard is connected” or “With touch and tablet, when touch mode is enabled” to them? That way, the virtual keyboard would pop up when one uses the touchscreen, but only if they don’t have a physical keyboard already connected (or have their laptop folded as a tablet). That would greatly improve the usability of my, and I suppose, many other’s laptops.
In the meantime, if anyone has a workaround to disable the virtual-keyboard when the physical one is connected (and vice-versa), don’t hesitate to share it!
