Plasmashell crashes

Good morning,

As of last night I get repetative crashes from plasmashell. I updated my system from the command line and than went to play some garrysmod. Garrysmod froze up so I hit the reset button on my, when it came back plasmashell kept crashing.

Is anyone able to help me diagnose and fix this hopefully? I have some screenshots (Hard to copy paste with a flickering desktop I apologize)

Below is my most recent journalctl entry

Below is if i run plasmashell from the terminal:

I have tried deleting ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc and ~/.config/plasmashellrc This seemed to do nothing so I have returned them.

Anything else to try? If my dumps aren’t nearly descriptive enough please let me know.

Thanks!

The art of pasting code isn't dead then?

Actually, basic system information is more useful…

I’d go with

inxi -zv8
inxi -zv8; echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

But using the ‘+’ icon to hide the longer paste

Output (pasted from Konsole)
```
Like This
```

Hey Ben,

Sorry about that. I’ll get that posted when I’m home and back at my computer.

Thanks.

Sounds like an issue I had a few days ago.
Try this:
ctrl+alt+T to open a terminal while shell is crashing,
kcmshell6 kcm_qtquicksettings -this will open a menu
change ‘Rendering Backend’ to Automatic.

Hey Mark,

I will try this as soon as I get home. Just currently at work.

I have a feeling something flipped over when it crashed (happened before) so I’m hoping this brings me some luck.

Thanks.

it says settings do not exist

Ignore me it worked. Thanks so much. I entered it wrong the first time.

Did you reboot after updating ?
What was updated ?

Rebooting might fix your issue.
