Hi, since 6.5 plasmashell’s memory usage will occasionally drastically increase until the kernel’s out of memory killer kills it and I can’t figure out why. I already deleted ~/.cache, ~/.config/plasmashellrc, ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc, but that didn’t help.
I don’t know how to reproduce it, it just happens sometimes. Sometimes even when I wasn’t using the PC directly, I was just using it as a media server and then when I go back to the PC my opened apps float in a black void because plasmashell had been killed in my absence. (When I notice the panel is frozen, but the system is still responsive and I kill plasmashell myself, then it does restart on its own)
Roughly at the same time as I did the upgrade to 6.5 I also installed merkuro, enabled the calendar events plugin in the digital clock applet and added local and remote iCal calendars. So a theory I have is that it might be triggered by the remote calendar updating?
I can’t tell if it’s something with my system or an issue that should be reported and if it should be reported I don’t really know what kind of info (apart from the basic hardware and version info from the infocenter) would be needed for a useful bug report and there’s a chance I don’t know how to obtain some of it.
