PlasmaTube: how to search for a video

The project README lacks any details on how to use it as if it Just Works™. Well, Idk if I do something wrong, but it just doesn’t for me.

So, the first step in setting up is choosing a “source” from the list. Docs claim “Invidious” to be the best one, but in reality every “invidious” source I tried result in “infinite loading” screen, so I’m using random PeerTube and Piped sources.

With that I have this list of “trending videos”

Obviously, I’m not interested in a random video, so let’s say I want to watch this one HEKSAfkseN0 (it is a ID on youtube because the forum doesn’t allow external links). How do I do that? I tried entering the address as well as the title to the search-box, but it just says No videos.

Unfortunately there’s a reason why I said that, the PeerTube and Piped sources are still really early for anything apart from loading the videos themselves. More than likely searching is not implemented for Piped (I’m pretty sure it is for PeerTube.) This can be reported on bugs.kde.org and I’ll fix that as soon as I can.

Yeah it’s a pretty bad time to be using random Invidious servers, most of them are getting hit by new updates to Google from YouTube. They’re continuing to make it harder to run 3rd party YouTube clients  This is something that might resolve itself in a few weeks. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is affected Piped as well.
