The new tiling areas are awesome, and are a great first step in the right direction. I know there are tons of tiling KWin scripts, but all of them have some bugs, and are not 100% perfectly integrated.
It would be great to see some more features on this in the future.
Easy / Convenient Tiling T17388

I think while tiling in plasma can be great for some users with complex needs (with KWin scripts), it is extremely lacking for many others, dragging behind tiling implementations in Windows or Gnome (with common extension ‘Tiling assistant’).
It would be great if the default tiling behavior (or behavior easily configurable in settings) could offer what Gnome desktop (with ‘Tiling assistant’ extension) or Windows (partially) do.
I’m talking about:
- Easy and convenient tiling for up to 4 windows
- Configuration for gaps between windows
- Tiling suggestions - By ‘suggestions’ I mean if you’re tiling window_1 to the right side of the screen, for example, you’ll be shown on the left previews/icons for all the other windows open.
(on the same desktop or on all desktops, depending on the settings)
These Suggestions would mean, that you could pick what to pair with the window_1. Suggestions should also work when tiling more than 2 windows.
While Plasma desktop technically does the first 2 things, I find the implementation more confusing and less convenient than in Gnome. As for tiling suggestions, those simply do not exist in Plasma.
I think Plasma and its users would benefit from these features.
