Problem on the second monitor

After updating to Plasma 6.5, I’m having problems with my second monitor.
I can’t drag and drop files from my primary monitor to the second monitor.
Additionally, there’s no option to create new text files, etc., on the second monitor.

I use KDE Neon user edition on Nvidia 1050TI, latest drivers 580.95.05

Right-click the second monitor and check the wallpaper configuration.

Files requires the layout to be set to “Folder View”, maybe yours is set to “Desktop”

It was set to catalog view. I switched to desktop and then back to catalog view, and now it’s fine
Thanks for the help.

But after restart same problem.

I ended up here for the same issue. Going from Disposition : Folders view → Desktop view →Folders view fix the icons issue on the second monitor. Sadly, a logout/reboot revert to the same problem (Plasma 6.5.1)

Do either of you have folder view on more than one desktop?

I realized that I have only one per activity but on different screens for some of the activities (first or second monitor)

I have one desktop and screen as an extension on a second monitor.

Sorry, I’ve been using bad phrasing.

What I meant is that each screen has its own background/wallpaper configuration.

I only have Folder view (“icons on desktop”) on one of my three screens but it can be any of the three.

So I was wondering if both of your screens were configured for Folder View

I have the same issue.. Switching from Folder →Desktop → Folder fixes it until a reboot, then it beaks again.

I’m using two identical monitors, both with the same wallpaper and refresh rate (144hz). Both are set to Folder View.

Yes, both are configured in Folder View.

On Plamza 6.5.1 this problem still exists unfortunately.

Well now, I just noticed this is happening to me in both Wayland and X11 too. I cannot drag and drop files to my second desktop either anymore, and the right click context menu is truncated. Just shows “Enter Edit Mode”, “Desktop and Wallpaper”, and “Display Configuration”.

This may be unrelated, but I have noticed some games are forgetting how to use borderless windows and are resetting their resolution while refusing to increase in size unless set back to exclusive full screen. This seems to fix itself after a reboot, but then breaks again a while later. It makes me wonder if something has gone wrong with Kwin.

Apps drag over fine and for the most part I did not notice anything awry until I tried to drag a file over as prompted by this post. I have not looked at the desktop settings in a while so there was no need to right click on it as I do not keep icons on my desktop.

I am also using Nvidia 580. They are both folder view.

By the way please, what is the purpose of that new “Disposition” selection ? What is the difference between “Folder” view (icons ON) and “Desktop” view (Icons OFF) ” ?

I’m having the same issue. Before the update, both monitors could show the Folders view, but after updating, I can’t switch my second monitor to that view. Even if I fix it, the problem comes back after restarting.

Just got 6.5.2 today. It is still not fixed. Does the developer (krake) needs to write a bug report to get it fixed ?

Anyone can write a bug report

I was just planning to test on my own system once I had time, just to see if I can reproduce it with folder view on two screens

I have now had time for some testing and I can see similar (mis)behavior.

The setup has three screens and all three have folder view configured.

When right clicking the first (most right one) screen or the last (most left screen) the menu has the options one would expect from the folder view.

The second (middle) screen does not.

Switching the middle screen’s background layout to the other option and back makes folder view work on that screen as well.

On logout and login the situation is back to middle screen not having all the options in the context menu
