Problem with taskbar and settings Plasma X11

Hi, i’m on Kali linux distribution, and i have a problem. Since the last kde update , my desktop totally bug.
Im not compatible with Wayland, so, don’t suggest me that please.

My taskbar dissapear, and when I start system settings, its fully bugged, the panel is white and black and many buttons are not clickables.
I tried to uninstall completly kde, kde plasma with all method (purge, purge user config, cache, local, autoremove, purge kali-desktop-kde, kde-full, and all of the possible kde removal, ‘^kde’ ‘^plasma’…)
I tried to restart, kill process, plasmashell and other one… Nothing.

Same after completly remove of KDE, the bug still here. I tried to create a new temporary user, and the task bar appear for this new user, not for the main user, but settings still bugged.

At this moment, i stay without any solutions… can you help me please ? Thanks.

sounds like your distro is broken… if you want KDE then i suggest a distro that has a good implementation like kubuntu, opensuse or fedora

if you want kali (for some reason) then go with gnome or xfce.

Sure, but at the begin, kde was fully compatible with my kali linux debian based, so, i don’t understand, and XFCE is baaad as fck, because xset is not proprely configured, it may cause display bug sometime.
I need KDE, i love kde !

in my experience KDE on debian is “not properly configured” either.

stick with distro’s that know KDE and how to make it work, unless you want that job.

there is also now tuxdeo that by all accounts has a solid implementation of KDE.

kubuntu tho is the only one that is still X11 out of the box as far as i know.

Do you know if plasma 6 release will be more compatible for debian distrib ?
Wich kde environment you suggest ? For my kali
Thanks

plasma 6 will not come to debian before it comes to kubuntu.

tying to shoehorn plasma 6 onto debian seems like a worse idea than just using the plasma 5 that it comes with.

to be clear, i don’t think any KDE will be a good suggestion for kali unless maybe you want to drop back to the trinity destkop which is based on an early early form of KDE.

Hi - regarding suggestions for maintaining an ongoing Kali Linux installation… In general, it may be a struggle to find folks outside of the Kali Linux community who are familiar with and able to help support using it as a permanently-installed, “daily driver” operating system.

As one example, running everything as root, as is directly enabled by Kali Linux, is explicitly unsupported and never recommended for an ongoing installation, and will result in significant issues along with many annoyances.

In addition, Kali Linux is largely based on Debian’s Testing repository, which is primarily intended to be used for the purpose of testing new versions of Debian, not for keeping current with upstream projects. Kali then modifies Debian Testing with additional packages from other Debian branches, plus its own repositories.

The result is an operating system that is very difficult for its upstream projects like KDE to assist with, because it diverges so greatly from current development work and best practices.

If you are interested in long-term usage of KDE Plasma on your device, I would encourage you to use a more appropriate general-purpose Linux distro, such as one of the ones you can see at Distributions with Plasma and KDE Applications - KDE Community.

Okay, thank you so much for your answer, and i hope, in the future, kde will release a version adapted for kali , when developpers got nothing to do haha.
