Problems with & and other characters

Hello, and just for your information:
Kdenlive has major problems rendering if the name of the folder being rendered to or the name of the project contains special characters such as: &. I don’t know yet what other characters make problems too.
You can search for the mistake for a long time if it’s just one wrong letter!

Hmm, I am not an expert in rendering with Kdenlive (or any other video editor). But I just now created a small video called Death&Star.kdenlive. I shut down the program, restarted, loaded that file and then rendered it to Death&Star.mp4. It worked fine. Is there any other test I can do to dupllcate your problem?

Hello @Atheist
First of all, I would like to say that I am working on Manjaro Linux with the latest version of Kdenlive from the repository.
In my last test, I placed the file in a folder without an & in the name, and the rendering was successful: The file was named: “Gut_&Böse.kdenlive", but the result was a video named: "Gut&Böse.mp4".
But when I try to render to a folder that contains an “&” in its name, it doesn’t render; it just creates a file named "Gut
_&_Böse.mp4.log”.

There must be something else getting in your way. I created a subdir called “micha&atheist” below the “Videos” directory. I then rendered a small video called Death&Star.mp4 to that directory. It shows up correctly in the Videos/Micha&atheist/ directory as the full mp4 file.

Could it be the umlaut??

It’s not the umlaut: ö, because there are no problems with the names Gut_und_Böse.
I don’t know for sure, but it seems that MLT or FFmpeg have a problem with the &. Why it works for you and not for me is a mystery, though.
