Hi you all,
I am currently using Plasma 6.3.3 on a fully updated Manjaro system.
Since the Plasma 6 update, I’ve been experiencing an annoying bug where desktop icons are randomly rearranged when the monitor is powered off. According to the KDE Bugs website, the reports related to this issue were marked as solved. This blog also mentioned the problem with desktop icons and solution from kde
The update to Plasma 6.3 was supposed to resolve the issue. However, I am still encountering the same problem on version 6.3.3.
I tried deleting the “[ScreenMapping]” section in plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc. When that didn’t work, I deleted the entire file, allowing Plasma to rebuild it from scratch, but the bug persists.
I even created a new account to check if the issue is related to some configuration, but the same problem occurs on the new account as well.
Any ideas how to solve this? Could this be a regression in version 6.3.3?
However, some folks there are no longer seeing the issue occur after the Plasma 6.3 update, while it sounds like you still are - or are maybe first seeing it with 6.3?
If the core issue there is related to yours - disconnecting or powering off a monitor causing desktop icons to rearrange on their own - then it might help the investigation if you could add your system information + display configuration, along with what you’re seeing on your device, as a comment to that bug report.
Thank you for your reply!
This issue has been occurring since the release of Plasma 6 (I remember experiencing it in version 6.0.5).
I have been following the bug reports related to this issue and was pleased to see it marked as resolved in version 6.3, as everyone in the bug reports stated that the bug was fixed. However, I can still reproduce it.
I think I will add my report to the KDE bug tracker.
