Process Stereo audio tracks separately

Greetings,

I’m trying to figure out how to apply different effects to the Left and Right audio of either each clip or the master track (either is fine).

Basically one channel is a lav mic and the other a room, and they need some different treatment. Different EQ, different compression, etc.

Is there any way to do this? Is there a recommended workflow? I am ok to do something like ffmpeg to extract the audio, provided there’s a simple way to keep it locked in with the video.

Thanks,

Hi, and welcome to the forum and community.

I’m afraid this is not possible in Kdenlive out of the box. Suggest to use audacity for this and then bring the audio back into Kdenlive.

Would you do this per-clip or after all other editing is done from the master track? Can kdenlive render to audio-only, which I would edit outside and bring back in for time-accurate alignment? What would you recommend?

I can’t be the only person with a lav and a shotgun mic on the same camera.

I think the ability to assign effects separately left and right would be welcomed by many. It’s the same level of CPU usage as running “stereo effects”, we just need the UI to do a split-view.

Thanks,

Yes.

Pehaps, or maybe not. Certainly the first one posting about this here

Maybe. Feel free to create a [Feature Request] in the official Kdenlive bug tracker.

You can also configure Kdenlive to open audacity or the audio processing software of your choice when double-clicking an audio clip.
