After recently updating to Plasma 6, I’ve noticed that some qt5 app no longer work with the global menu plasmoid. I am using Wayland session. The main app giving me issues is Quassel IRC client. There’s also some UI bugs that are apparent on Plasma 6, but the main issue is there not being any kind of menu, so I cannot access the settings for the program at all.
Unfortunately, it seems as though development has pretty much stopped with this app, so hopefully there’s something that can be done on my end to make it work…
Any advice? I am running Manjaro… are there any packages that may be missing?
I am seeing the same problem with Valentina Studio for Linux (https://www.valentina-db.com): no menu at all.
Though I don’t know if Valentina Studio is a QT5 application, but I don’t think the problem is limited and/or related to QT5.
It would be nice if Global Menu had an exclusion list, this way we could at least work around the problem.
Anymore thoughts on this? Still not working. However, it does work just fine on my desktop computer… same OS (Manjaro Plasma), both up to date (the one that isn’t working properly is actually more up to date running Plasma 6.1.4).
I just do not understand at all how two systems of the same install, running the same software behave differently? Why do I have properly working app menu support with Quassel IRC Client on my desktop system (again, both running Wayland sessions), but cannot get it to work at all on my laptop since updating from Plasma 5? Very frustrating.
I’m combing through all the packages installed on both systems to see if, perhaps, I’m missing a package or something on the laptop… but I don’t have very high hopes…
Hopefully dumping the thread will get it across someone’s eyes who understands what’s going on here… maybe? I hope…
