Question about interface windows

Can I have that right window all the way to the top ? Any sugestions on a tutorial to move around windows ?

Also … I loose some space in the bottom window, can’t get it all the way down. Only need one audio track.

I figured out that Ctrl+Home brings the cursor all the way back to the beginning in the timeline … isn’t there a button somewhere on the screen to do that ? Me kinda lazy, leaning back in my chair to watch what I have done … to replay I have to sit up and use my both hands to do that. Would be a lot easier with just a mouse-click and then press play again.

Can you type the message from kinfo for receive accurate help?

Regards

What is kinfo ?

That looks like windows. There won’t be a kinfo.

The taskbar seems a lot the Plasma desktop of Linux.

If you are in Windows, provide the version of Kdenlive at least.

Hi, and welcome to the forum and community.

Yes, you can. Select Kdenlive Menu > View > Dock Area Orientation > Arrange in Columns.
More info on moving around windows in the Kdenlive Documentation (has chapters and is searchable ).

Also … I loose some space in the bottom window, can’t get it all the way down. Only need one audio track.

On this page of the Kdenlive documentation is a link to a video about workspaces coming to Kdenlive. Shortly after the one minute mark the timeline widget’s height is resized. That’s what you want to do to reclaim that lost space.

There sure is: Right-click any of the toolbars, select Configure Toolbars, make sure you select the one where you want to put the button, type “Go to Project Start” in the Filter field under Available Actions, then drag the action to the list box on the right and position it where you want.

All of that is described in the Kdenlive Documentation … (Google/bing/DuckDuckGo/… would have produced tons of hits, I reckon)

Yes it is Windows and worst of all … it is Windows 11. Upgrading from 10 to 11 I lost all my programs. I worked with Hitfilm but Hitfilm ceased to exist and no download to be found nowhere anymore to reinstall it. I also got hopelessly behind with updates so I was still working with an old version of Hitfilm. Because of that I went for a hunt on the net to find an alternative and so I came across kdenlife. My glory-days are long gone and I don’t want to spent lots of money anymore to buy as I used to. Still have to learn a lot but I’m in love already.

All of that happened two weeks ago so I should have the latest version of kdenlife. (All is awesome about it except for the name. (Who comes up with a name like that ?

Thank you for talking to me.

Got it … took some doing but got it … outstanding. Now I also can lower the timeline more to recover that lost space. (See image)

Yes I’m brand new around here. Please read my earlier reply how I ended up here.

Thank u thank u thank u.

The program that you are using is Kdenlive and is part of KDE Plasma desktop of the Linux distributions:

If you want to try Linux, here you can see the 10 Linux distributions more used:

Man … you are à lifesaver ! Added the lazy-man’s-button … how cool is that ?

Now … whatever I have done, stuff got animated. Just grabbed it with the mouse and moved it from left to right and that move appears to be animated. No idea how I did that but I’ll figure it out.

Yes dad !

Thank u to take the time for talking to me.

No hablo español pero gracias por eso.

It’s sort of an acronym for KDE Non-Linear Video Editor. Non-linear is kind of outdated by now but the name stuck and there is no need to change it as it became quite a household name …

You don’t need a Composite and Transform composition to have your title appear on top of the main video. If the title clip has an alpha channel (aka transparency) simply placing it on a track above the main video works. You can use the Transform effect to make it smaller and/or move it around. The advantage of using an effect rather than a composition is that the effect stays with the clip, the composition doesn’t.
