Recommendations for Linux Server Hardware Upgrade

Hello KDE Community,

I’m planning to upgrade my Linux server hardware, and I’m looking into upgrading the processor to the AMD OS8439YDS6DGN. The current server is running on older hardware, and I’m interested in improving overall performance for hosting multiple virtual machines and handling high-load applications.

Has anyone here had experience with the AMD in a Linux server environment? How does it handle under load, and are there any specific configurations or compatibility issues I should be aware of with Linux distros? Additionally, are there any other processors in a similar price range you would recommend for server upgrades?

I’m also open to advice on upgrading other components like RAM and storage for better efficiency.

Hi - it’s certainly possible that folks here will have some helpful experience on that topic, but just as a heads up (as I noticed you had posted this a few months ago with no response) - since most KDE work is going to be “downstream” of the topic you’re interested in here, you might get more feedback in a forum with folks who are more specifically into the server hardware world.
