Remappable tablet touch strips/rings

Hi hello, this is just a real quick and easy suggestion for an additional feature for graphic tablets, a feature I’m sorely missing right now.

As some of you know, some graphic tablets or tablet monitors come equipped with touch sensitive strips or rings that are very useful for zooming in and out, increasing brush size, etc.
While these are currently supported in Wayland, the way they currently - at least according to Nicolas Fella, to whom I reached out to get a better understanding of it - is how each individual app interprets these inputs. Unfortunately, the apps that support them are few and far between, so I propose an additional option in KDE’s tablet settings to let us rebind these touch inputs to keyboard or mouse inputs.

I hope this makes sense and can be implemented in the near future.

It’s on the roadmap; see 477752 – Allow assigning shortcuts to tablets' touch rings.

Aw hell yeah, that’s great news. Can’t wait

Not to be rude or demanding or anything, just out of sheer curiosity - there doesn’t happen to be an ETA on when this’ll be included? It’s one of the few features that are missing for me personally in KDE (my tablet’s manufacturer does offer Linux drivers but they’re jank and not compatible with Wayland yet - and while they’re aware of the issue, who knows how long they’ll take to fix that, if at all) - along with a proper Gnome-Sushi equivalent, but that’s another topic entirely.

I would expect for either Plasma 6.3 or 6.4. It’s being actively worked on, so it’s just a matter of getting it in.
