Remote desktop connection does not work

I did create a new user on the target

If both the machine you are on and the Target are running KDE,
On the Target:
Go to Settings > Remote Desktop and in the Top Right Corner, turn Enable RDP Server to ON.
Make sure Log in with your system password is Checked under 'System Users (and that the name of that system is correct)

In my case I also have my user name under ‘Other users’.

take note of the ‘Listening Port’. It should be 3389, but check and change in next bit if it is different.

On the Main Machine where you want to View the other machine from:
Open KRDC.
On the Top line there’s a little drop down selection thingy.
Choose RDP - (NOT! VNC)
Type in the IP address of the Target,and include :3389 (or whatever port your Target said to use).
Something like:
192.168.0.xxx:3389 where xxx will be different on yours.

When you press Enter, if you are lucky you will be asked for your normal username and root password for the Target machine.

I had a cow of a job trying to get ‘anything’ to connect to ‘anything else’ because I was used to using Nomachine’s FREE version for years. So I’d got lazy.
Then I decided to test KDE-Linux, which because it is Immutable won’t allow me to install anything else, like Vinaigre Server to work with TigerVNC.
So I tried all sorts of combinations and accidentally discovered the Remote Desktop Server Built-In to KDE !!!

I used to be a computer tech and programmer since the 1970s and a Linux specialist since 1998 (before some brain injuries took all that away from me.
So I can’t believe it tool me a week to discover this solution.

Now I did a lot of messing around - so there might be something I’ve missed. But I hope this helps at least one person to look in what might be the ‘right place’.
And there’s somethign else that needs to be done that I forgot to mention - like a UFW rule to allow Port 3389 (I do NOT recall doing that), please rewrite my steps with the changes.

And if it doesn’t work for anyone - just let me know I wrote garbage . .
