Hi,
I was trying to add Neovim to the quick menu shown here.
And while I managed to accomplish what I was looking for it did not come to me to use the “Always open X files with the chosen app” check. Which I believe is not clear enough for new users (me, basically) as it implies it sets the default application settings to that app.
Best regards,
Gonzako
but that’s exactly what it does.
if you just want to change up the quick menu, then you can adjust the order of apps that appear there by going to the file associations settings page and looking up the specific mime type for your file.

Oh, so the quick menu thing is specific only for folders? My bad then.
it’s for any type of file/directory (mime type).
if i have a pdf on the desktop and right click on it, i can see “open with okular” and “open with …” where i can get a whole menu of options to choose from.
the order those options appear can be edited from the settings page i mentioned.
the first item is the default (okular) and the rest are what appear in the menu (in the order shown).
if you choose your own application and check the box then that becomes the default application and moves to the top of the list on the settings page.
