I have three different checking accounts in $, GBP, and Euros. In the cash balance report i can convert all to BASE currency ($) or keep them separate. I would like to have a report of what the total of all 3 is in Euros and GBP. I can’t seem to manage doing that. Is it possible? Thanks, A
That is currently not supported. You could try if switching the base currency between the three provides the information. It’s a bit tedious, I know.
I thought you could change the base currency only when initially setting up an account. But, in any case, that is a bit tedious. I think I will set up a spreadsheet to handle it on the side. With trump threatening to get rid of Jerome Powell early, the dollar could plummet and I want to keep checking totals. Thanks, IPW. later, gator.
What you refer to is the currency an account is denominated in. That can only be changed when the account is not in use (I think no transactions is the condition but I am not sure anymore).
The base currency is the one you usually operate in. It can be selected and changed any time using the Tools/Currency menu (which opens the following dialog):
The base currency is the one with the KMyMoney icon in front (here the Euro).
To switch to USD scroll down to make its entry visible (or use the search box at the top) and right click on the USD entry:
Oh, I just see that we also have a shiny button at the bottom to select the base currency which is disabled if the selection bar is on the current base currency as in the first screenshot above.
Clearly you’re not just a pretty face!! That works ! It’s easy to display the report that totals all cash accounts in the base currency. Then you change it (as you show) and the report changes. Danke! A
