Request: Bring Back Cube _Animation_ for Desktop Switching

Way, way back, in the annals of time, we had the cube animation in the below settings option, which allowed it to show a cube rotating whenever you switched virtual desktop. It was removed after KDE4 as the code needed to be re-written.

Is this something that could be brought back to Plasma 6? Incredibly grateful to see Vlad Z’s work on making the Cube part of the desktop effects, just hoping it can be integrated back to its original use case within the desktop switching animation options. Huge thanks!

Just click Desktop Effects 3 above Virtual Desktops and in the search box type cube.

It would be nice to have indeed.

It’s there, please read my above post.

Respectfully, I don’t think you fully understand. We’re aware that it’s present in “Desktop Effects” - but it’s missing in the dropdown I have literally highlighted in red, where it used to be, as a transition effect. (Hence my using the word animation in the title of this post). Hopefully that’s clearer.

There’s a request in the bugtracker 476161 – Ability to use the new Cube effect as animation when switching virtual desktops I hope more can see it. (although it should be probably moved to systemsettings->kcm_kwin_virtualdesktops or kwin)

I don’t think you get that that those same settings are available under Desktop Effects so actually no need for them to be directly under Virtual Desktops. If anything Cube belongs under Virtual Desktop Switching Animation and not Window Management, and to take it a logical step further a subsection under Window Management should not be named Window Management.
