Resume from sleep mode

I’ ve read Power Management

Quite a write up.

What the document does not disclose is how to resume from sleep mode. Moving a mouse, typing a key on the keyboard even hitting the power button all have no effect on my GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 based motherboard.

You will need to look at your motherboard’s manual for this, as it is entirely hardware specific here.

Some boards have settings for waking on keyboard or mouse that default to being disabled in the BIOS.

How are you resuming from sleep now?

look in your firmware for “wake” type settings

wake on USB is what i use so that my keyboard can wake the machine

there may also be a wake setting for the power button or bluetooth.

Additional to what @claydoh and @skyfishgoo mentioned there may be peculiarities depending on your GPU and which drivers you are running.

For example: NVIDIA/Troubleshooting - ArchWiki

It might be, but

systemctl suspend seems to work (wake with power button) systemclt suspend screen stays on but machine is unresponsive.

I’m not sure what you’re saying here, this sentence seems contradictory. I suspect you meant to say something other than what you wrote???

You’re going to have to either provide more system details (for example inxi -zv8) or read up on the peculiarities of your hardware/software yourself. So many factors can affect something like this.
